Are Kids Stupid?

I work in a Special Education room. Some students I feel were misevaluated because of behavior and not academics. I don't consider emotional impairment a disability. I think it's another name for temper tantrum.

I totally agree with you about it being a temper tantrum. Nowadays they try to come up with an explantion for every kind of behavior even when some of them is plain spoiled and evil.

No, they're not stupid. My cousin's son has ADHD and he would throw temper tantrums from time to time and a lot of times he would completely ignore his parents' scolds and does exactly the opposite of what they tell him to do. But he's not a stupid kid, though. When he would sit and pay attention, he's actually a decent learner.

I know in this country they put labels on any and everything. They also love to put the children on medication, because it is all about making money so if they child really has issues or not the people who have the upper hand come out as the winner

Learning Disability and IQ or intelligence are definitely separate things. I'd like to see a link to an article on this issue, and a post that responded to some aspect of the article.

If a child gets everything they want when they want it, then they think they can do what they want when they want to. I believe that everyone has a learning disorder, not a serious one, but most of us have learned to control it. The disorder shows up when we don't want to learn, which no one can say has never happened to them. Those kids are not stupid, they just haven't been disciplined enough. Of course that is different from a learning impairment which is an actual inability to learn.
